Friday, 2/1 I'd like the students to setup a personal developer blog that they'll use throughout the course. I feel tired of Octopress/Jekyll and it's rough spots, though if we can't put something better together in time, it'll do.

I'm thinking...

• Use MiddleMan for the framework (http://middlemanapp.com/)
• Use Foundation for the layout (http://foundation.zurb.com/)
• Use "Blades of Steel" theme (http://foundstyles.com/bladesofsteel/#)

We need to put together a walk through that shows them how to...

• Generate the app
• Create a git repo, add the files, commit
• Install foundation
• Install the theme
• Commit
• Create a starter layout
• Create whatever controller-esque code we need to hook things together
• Create a first article
• Preview it
• Commit it
• Ship to Heroku
• Create a github project and push it up

I have a in-progress blog using these technologies.

I will write up the tutorial here with links and references for the students to use and follow along.

I will create a repo that contains the starter blog project that they will work to help them get started.
