`turso auth login` is stuck on "waiting for authentication" #246

I am on Mac with Safari and turso auth login is just stuck on waiting for authentication:

penberg@vonneumann iku-turso-cli % turso --version
turso version v0.38.0
penberg@vonneumann iku-turso-cli % turso auth login
Visit this URL on this device to log in:
https://api.chiseledge.com?port=51622&redirect=true
Waiting for authentication...

The browser does have the following text:

Logged in as penberg
If your CLI does not say "✔ Success! Logged in as" or you want to use CLI in headless/browserless environment, please use the following access token:

The problem I see on the dev console is:

Fetch API cannot load http://localhost:54052/?jwt=SECRET&username=penberg due to access control checks.

before that error, I see:

[blocked] The page at https://api.chiseledge.com/auth/github/callback?code=59457e351d648f9ab0d5&state=MfM_DCXfYSVAZxnq was not allowed to display insecure content from http://localhost:54648/?jwt=SECRET&username=penberg. 
Not allowed to request resource
