Engaging BRIDGE Project Scientists #59

Closed tursynay closed 2 years ago

Hi @monicacecilia, @jmcmurry, @diatomsRcool, @sagehrke! We got a few emails from Shurjo emphasizing that we need to engage the Project Scientists in the cores. Julie and I (heavy edits from Julie :) ) started this survey form that we think would help figure out how to engage the Project Scientists best. Please take a look, what are your thoughts, anything else we should add? Obviously, we should ask the core leads of other cores to share thoughts on this as well.

I will write up an email that we can send to all project Scientists to fill out this survey so we can start working with them on some milestones more closely.

Feel free to fill out if you want to see the flow, we can always delete the test run responses

We need to get them onboarded. Maybe we should ask which milestones they would like to be involved in?

jmcmurry commented 2 years ago

that's a good idea but how do we not overwhelm them with that option?

diatomsRcool commented 2 years ago

Can we make it conditional on what core they say they belong to? and maybe filter by Y1?

jmcmurry commented 2 years ago

for some cores, that's manageable. For teaming, that's rather a lot still

diatomsRcool commented 2 years ago

Then I guess we can just not do that at this point.

Sent link to survey out to Lucila, Alex, and Moni for review

Got feedback: Add two questions:

  1. What really sparks your interest in being part of this large project?
  2. Are there any concurrent NIH efforts of which the Core should be aware?
jmcmurry commented 2 years ago

ok I made those changes; I just edited the description to reflect the tasks that are complete. Going to assign this to @diatomsRcool now

Sending to all Core Leads

Feedback from Nomi: I noticed a small typo: as a project scientists.

Re You can also upload files (zip folder) here

do you mean that you can only upload zip files? or that you can only upload one thing, so if you have multiple things, you need to zip them? meanwhile, the instruction in the box says “drop files or click here to upload”. by testing, i found that you can only drop one file, so i think the instructions should be:

If you have electronic copies of any papers or templates that BRIDGE Center members should read or consider, please attach them. Note that the box below only lets you drop one file, so if you want to share multiple files, please combine them into a zip.

also, maybe you could move the paper / research suggestions question to just above the final upload question, since they’re connected. Nomi

I update the survey with Nomi's suggestions.

Suggestions from Brad: I think you might want to label the “right arrow” button at the end of the first page as “submit”. It’s not clear if this is a link to another page or if it is a final submission.

Good point, update the button to read Submit

Closing this issue, we had a meeting with the Project Scientists, Teaming Core, and NIH, and showed the survey, NIH thought we don't need to send the survey but will get back to us with their ideas of how to engage the project scientists soon.
