Sounds like it could be an issue with the media you are adding, can you tell me what it is or maybe even share it?
Could be, but it's so sporadic, with media and app use always on the same device, that I wonder. These toots are usually successful, so now I'd be hard pressed to point to any particular one that was troubling.
I'm actually wondering about my connectivity, although everything else on my device works, as for instance right now when I open Tusky, the most recent item in my timeliness is 23h ago, and a refresh just produces a spinner for awhile but nothing new to view.

Detailed description
I cannot tell if the recent spate of issues are the app, my service (which hasn't changed) or the fediverse.
Create new content to toot, add media, set caption, toot and it all too often fails. Thankfully a copy is saved to drafts, but many times that fails to load, but eventually it loads and eventually the toot is successful.
Using Samsung S22+, and everything is up to date.
Love the app, but just a bumpy road right now.
