Calendar: Improvements #2196

Not sending out updates to declined attendees will leave the event that is created in those attendees calendars out of sync with the actual event. If they then select attending, they will then be re-synchronized the next time the organizer sends out an update. I think this could be a little confusing? It might be nice to at least send out an update as soon as the organizer receives the attending update, if there's no way to keep the events in sync without having to send updates from the organizer.

  • [ ] More flexible reminder times

This improvement is really important to me. It would be great if I could enter an arbitrary date+time for the reminder.

Should I create a separate feature request for this or have you already considered/prioritized it within this issue?

charlag commented 1 year ago

@MirkoRischke please don't create additional issues, it will not give it priority

Desktop: More import options for ics files. (e.g. when Tutanota is set as default handler for ics files, drag & drop).

+1 for that. Importing single events from ICS files (upload and directly from Mail attachments) would be great

I also miss a convenient way to import .ics files to my calendar. Both in desktop and mobile apps. Please let me know if you see it as a minor implementation issue that could be contributed.

@Paulymorph did you know that it's already possible to import ICS files in the desktop app? Just click the three dots next to a calendar and choose Import. More info about what import options are available can be found here. As far as I'm aware though, there are no import options available for the calendar in the mobile apps at the moment.

The calendar import is also limited by lack of support for advanced calendar event repeat rules. So if you import an entire calendar which contains events that trigger on, for example, first saturday every month, those events will not be imported. See separate issue about this for more details: https://github.com/tutao/tutanota/issues/1666.

@Backspaze yes, I knew about it. My main pain for now is that I cannot add an .ics file from mobile app. So I have to either enter an event manually or save the file to desktop and import through the tutanota desktop UI. Btw, opening an .ics file with the Tutanota app from Finder doesn't work yet too. This could be a minor improvement, tmm. Though I feel that I won't use it if importing in the mobile app works.

I am also missing event invites for people without tutanota email and with a free tutanota plan. It makes it so much more difficult to interact with friends outside of the tuta ecosystem

it annoys us as well and we want to fix it

Another improvement I would like to see: The ability to set the default calendar view when opening the calendar, e.g. agenda/day/week/month
