Include user entered activity types in the autocomplete list #1188

Is a little boring typing the type of your activity type if you change it a lot.
I'm using it to record all my tracks on the city, so, sometimes I have to write
"walking", or "cycling", "riding a car", "taking a bus", etc...

Well, It would be better if we could select it. We could also create the
"activity types" categories before and the subcategories.
Do you know "Financisto" categories? Well, something like that...

So I could create categories like:
"Cycling"
And, subcategories like:
"Cycling for transport"
"Cycling for training"
"Mountain bike cycling"
...

What do you think?

I think "Financisto" is opensource also, and you can look there.

(sorry my English... thank you for the attention!) =)

We could also add the picture of the activity at the time we've add it.

I would like to implement this feature. Autocompleting user entered activity
types. No images yet.

Autocompleting is good. But I think that would be better user defined
categories, where we just select those.

For better understanding, we would enter the categories and saving them (with
"father" and "son" categories, and just after, at the journey menu, we would
choose the categories (no images yet, also).

If you download and use Financisto, you can see my point.

So, first I register the master categorie: "Cycling".
I can choose to register a subcategorie: "Cycling for transport".

Now that they are registered, I start the GPS, and, at the time I'm saving the
kind of transportation, I choose the categories I registered (for now, just
Cycling and Cycling for transport".

Hope I helped. =)

I understand. But I´d like to participate in project by implementing
autocomplete. Categories and subcategories needs the bigger involvement and
could be implemented later.

Ok... I thought that it could be gotten of Financisto, once it is a open
source, I think the code is open for copies...

But, ok... Good luck! =)

As this is similar to another issue 1459 I've copied remarks here too. I've
started using 'My Tracks' for my training horse rides so that I could calculate
training speed and distance. Having a user defined activity would be helpful as
I'm limited to pre-existing ones.

I would also vote for this type of setting or at least adding additional
activities as options. It would also be great to have a few variations on a
given activity with adjusted formula.

Exp: Mountain biking (XC) - something like cross country XC trails
Mountain biking (Mountain) - good mix of climbs, descents and switchbacks
Mountain biking (Extreme) - extreme climbs, descents, jumps at high speed /
high intensity
