Thanks! I have been waiting for this kind of comment since I started linking sources. I lot of them are based on lucky guesses on name similarity. Ziggo sport and I guess bbc first on tvgids.nl are new. I' ll update it in the next release, And the others, I regularly scan the config, but it's getting a very long list. And the Dutch/Flemish differences, I noticed for Discovery, because tvgids.tv has both, but I never watch any of those, so any more are quite welcome. I leave the issue open for future corrections.
A few more: humo.be 109 (Cartoon Network) should be linked with 0-21 (unlike Nickelodeon and MTV, Belgium gets the same Cartoon Network as the Netherlands)
horizon.tv For BBC 3 (24443943013) and BBC 4 (24443943080) they have a combined listing for BBC 3/CBBC and BBC 4/CBeebies, other sources list BBC 3, BBC 4 and CBeebies programming seperately. You might want to split the combined versions from horizon.tv into seperate entries, since while Ziggo has the combined channels, other providers like Canal Digitaal have them on seperate channels.
VPRO.nl fox should be linked with 0-440
There's also regional variations with Fox: http://www.foxtv.nl/schema http://www.foxtv.be/schedule Fox NL 0-440 1-fox 5-120746535305 7-fox
Fox BE 6-111
I'm a bit confused for the only source listing cbeebies is tvgids.tv and cbbc is listed nowhere? You're sure all sources except Ziggo/Horizon do not include them? If I split, this how about Veronica? Only tvgids.tv and I guess Horizon include the Disney data, should I split this also in two? Are there providers not combining them?
Can you also check Arte I have seen it listed as both a German and a French channel? The latter on one of the Belgium sources.
And the Canvas(+)/ Ketnet (+) /op 12 listings? They are also a bit confusing.
Yeah this is how it breaks down: Just BBC 3 Programming: 0-300 1-bbc-3 7-bbc_three 8-bbc3
Just BBC 4 Programming: 0-301 1-bbc-4 7-bbc_four 8-bbc4
Just CBeebies Programming: 1-cbeebies
BBC3/CBBC combined: 5-24443943013
BBC4/CBeebies combined: 5-24443943080
None of the sources you use has a CBBC only listing
No one has a standalone Veronica channel, Veronica only has one feed where Disney XD shares time with them, an arrangement that goes back to the Fox Kids/Jetix Days, so it would be best to keep the combined Veronica/Disney XD entry you currently have. However there's also a 24/7 Disney XD channel. Here's how the listings break down for them: Veronica and nothing during Disney XD's hours 0-34 7-veronica_jetix (despite saying jetix, the listing just shows Veronica) 8-veronica
Combined Veronica/Disney XD 1-veronica 5-24443943190
24/7 Disney XD 0-311 1-disney-xd 5-24443943086
I split the BBC. Another one like ARTE is RTL I suspect for both there to be French and German versions.
Yeah, ARTE has French and German versions
RTL-TVI is from French speaking Belgium: http://www.rtl.be/rtltvi/
I'd have to look into the canvas+, ketnet+ thing.
I tagged what I changed so far: https://github.com/tvgrabbers/tvgrabnlpy/releases/tag/beta-2.2.6-p20151118
You will have to clear the channel section to get all group/name changes, as they normally will get preserved.
I'm thinking of adding an option to --configure
to place all active channels in group 0, placing them on the top in a separate group.
And TLC? It seems a candidate for having different programming for the Netherlands and Flanders.
Yeah TLC has a different schedule for Flanders: http://www.tlc.nl/tv-gids/tlc/ http://www.tlc.nl/be/tv-gids-vlaanderen/
Maybe handy to know. There is an undocumented configuration option write_info_files
. If you add that to your configuration file set as True, you get extra output files in your .xmltv directory. Among them is a file fetched-programs which lists the grabbed programs per source and the resulting merges.
I added the option: group_active_channels
On the command-line it stays ad-hoc (the value in the configfile is not changed). If you run without the option the active channels are put back into their group. If you set it to True in the configfile they stay grouped separately.
I updated the above mentioned tag to the last changes. If you think we have all source linking and channel grouping I put it formally in beta tomorrow. I'm awaiting your verdict on Arte and RTL on whether to split them.
As you can see I moved all Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Hindi, Arabian, Asian, etc channels to the International group. I moved the separated Flemish versions to 'Vlaams Overig', some English and French channels to their respective groups and all NPO channels to group 1 (all non regional and non radio from that source).
Do you have a name other then kyl416? So I can mention your assistance!?
You can just mention me as kyl416
I have to doube check the individual entries for Arte and RTL to see which belongs to what. I'll report back when I finish
RTL-TVI (French speaking Belgium) 6-87 8-rtl (Nieuwsblad incorrectly groups it in Nederlands and uses the German logo) (1-rtl-tvi from tvgids.tv no longer exists)
RTL Germany 0-11 1-rtl 5-555680807174 8-rtl-plus-international
Arte French 6-45
Arte German 0-38 1-arte 5-24443943121 7-arte 8-arte (Nieuwsblad groups it in Frans, but the listings match the German version)
TMF BE rebranded to Comedy Central BE earlier this month (completely different programming from Comedy Central NL), but not all the sites handled it the same way: 1-tmf from tvgids.tv no longer exists 6-97 from humo.be just has a "Geen programmagegevens beschikbaar" listing 8-tmf from Nieuwsblad has listings for Comedy Central BE
Thanks again. If I see this all it looks like more changes will come up in the coming months. I'll see if I can take the link tables out of the code and have them downloaded from git on any configure. That way people can stay maximal up to date by just running --configure
now and then.
I added limited channel merging for bbc3/cbbc and bbc4/cbeebies so they incorporate also the data from the sources with the split channels. https://github.com/tvgrabbers/tvgrabnlpy/releases/tag/beta-2.2.6-p20151121 I thought about doing the same for Veronica/Disney XD, but as you said it only exists as a combined channel. I however could merge Disney XD into it. There are still some unspecified Disney XD areas. How are you doing with canvas(+)/ketnet(+)./op 12? This splitting/ merging might also be valid there!
There's two seperate feeds for Disney XD: The 24/7 Disney XD that's carried by cable providers The one that shares time with Veronica (a relationship that goes back to Fox Kids/Jetix days): Disney XD (06-18) Veronica (18-06) At a quick glance they have the same schedule
OP 12 was discontinued at the end of 2014, it used to timeshare with Ketnet Een+ and Canvas+ are bonus event channels and timeshare with Ketnet Here's how the sources handle it: Ketnet/Canvas+/een+: 1-ketnet-canvas-2 5-24443943087 6-59 7-ketnet
Ketnet only: 8-ketnet
een+ only: 8-eenplus
Update for Veronica/Disney XD's actual hours are the following: Disney XD 04-18 Veronica 18-04
Thanks, although the hours are not relevant. Any mentioning of Disney XD will be treated as a group slot and will be filled up by data from the other channel. The rest will be ignored, as they don't match. For some reason The combined listings do not specify all those group slots, especially between 4 and 6. I however just looked and what the combined channel shows about those hours does not match the Disney XD listing.Possibly a time shift?
Horizon's listing incorrectly extends the final show on Veronica "Astro TV" to after 6am instead of ending it at 4am. TVGids.tv just says "Disney XD" until it gets to the first Disney XD show that starts after 6am
I saw, and other sources fill it with an unspecified group slot (tvgids.tv shows this from 4:00 to even 9:40 or so). But I assume the given listing on Horizon to be correct (it seems the same as on tvgds.tv) but nowhere like the one from Disney XD. I anyhow will not risk merging Disney XD into it, unless I'm more sure. It would only be for those few nightly hours.
I was comparing the wrong one. There are only a few differences.
Ok, Did the split merge for Veronica and Ketnet: https://github.com/tvgrabbers/tvgrabnlpy/releases/tag/beta-2.2.6-p20151122
It looks like there's some issues with the merger, Disney XD shows are being included in some Veronica hours. I can't exactly find a pattern for it, it might be related to how it deals with overlaps and if the overlapping Disney XD shows are within the max_overlap during Veronica's hours.
i.e. tommorow 11/23 I have the following (edited to only show times and titles):

I spotted another problem for today, where Disney XD programming appears instead of Veronica, but I think that's more because tvgids.tv starts with programming that's currently airing and doesn't display previous shows from earlier in the day: http://www.tvgids.tv/zenders/veronica/

I'll have look. This is weird. I first merge the single channels separate and only in the end they are merged into the combined one. And they should never replace unless it's a title marked as group slot. It would suggest that the title is missing in the combined set. At the start and the end of the grab it can go wrong, but not in the middle. And the combined set is tvgids.tv and horizon. This could very well point to a bug in my merge algorithm. It will take some time to check. Before merging in the separate channels I have:
23 nov 18:15-18:40: [ tv-14517533][serie/soap] The Big Bang Theory: The Focus Attenuation [0/5]
23 nov 18:40-19:10: [ tv-14517534][serie/soap] Still Standing: Still Not the One [0/16]
23 nov 19:10-19:35: [ tv-14517057][serie/soap] Two and a Half Men: The Spit-Covered Cobbler [0/18]
23 nov 19:35-20:05: [ tv-14517341][serie/soap] Two and a Half Men: Golly Moses, She's a Muffin [0/19]
23 nov 20:05-20:30: [ tv-14517344][serie/soap] The Big Bang Theory: The Champagne Reflection [0/10]
23 nov 20:30-23:15: [ tv-14517599][ Film] Man of Steel: [0/0]
After merging in the separate Veronica it says:
23 nov 18:15-18:40: [ nl-19503306][serie/soap] The Big Bang Theory: The Focus Attenuation [0/5]
23 nov 18:40-19:10: [ nl-19542497][serie/soap] Still Standing: Still Not the One [0/16]
23 nov 19:10-19:35: [ nl-19619309][serie/soap] Two and a Half Men: The Spit-Covered Cobbler [0/18]
23 nov 19:35-20:05: [ nl-19619308][serie/soap] Two and a Half Men: Golly Moses, She's a Muffin [0/19]
23 nov 20:05-20:30: [ nl-19542496][serie/soap] The Big Bang Theory: The Champagne Reflection [0/10]
23 nov 20:30-23:15: [ nl-19503307][ Film] Man of Steel: [0/0]
And after Disney:
23 nov 18:15-18:40: [ nl-19529412][serie/soap] The Big Bang Theory: The Focus Attenuation [0/5]
23 nov 18:40-19:10: [ nl-19529411][serie/soap] Still Standing: Still Not the One [0/16]
23 nov 19:10-19:35: [ nl-19529410][serie/soap] Two and a Half Men: The Spit-Covered Cobbler [0/18]
23 nov 19:35-20:05: [ nl-19529409][serie/soap] Two and a Half Men: Golly Moses, She's a Muffin [0/19]
23 nov 20:06-20:26: [ nl-19542496][serie/soap] Star Wars Rebels: Het Vuur van de Rebellie [0/13]
23 nov 20:26-20:52: [ nl-19529407][serie/soap] Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.: Beschermers van de Melkweg [0/5]
23 nov 20:30-23:15: [ nl-19503307][ Film] Man of Steel: [0/0]
So the first Big Bang stays untouched and then?? As said I have to examine the merging code in depth.
If I look at the last merge statistics (only for two days):
9 outside common time range
34 generically matched on name to get genre
44 matched on time and name
20 matched on time and genre
0 added from groupslots
25 added unmatched
It's not in those 9, so it must be in those 20. (the last 25 are from Veronica/Disney not from Disney) But why replace 1 with 2? That should only be possible with two episodes from the same series. There are some conditions where the data from the merged in source are used. But those were not written for this kind of merge.
Yes it's the genre match. I disabled it for channel merges. https://github.com/tvgrabbers/tvgrabnlpy/releases/tag/beta-2.2.6-p20151123
What happened was that the Big Bang was matched on genre to the Star Wars Rebels. Following that a discrepancy in time was noticed, which triggered the split episode code adding the Hulk. And because of that the Names from Disney were used. I have to sharpen those tests. Since I wrote this code I have also now partial title match code in ttvdb. I think I look into adding that + the split episode code should also check on title equality. Maybe then I can re-enable the genre matching.
Disney Channel needs to be split: http://nl.disney.be/disney-channel/gids http://www.disney.nl/disney-channel/gids Disney Channel NL: 0-424 1-disney-channel 5-24443942993
Disney Channel BE: 6-47
Also, 7-fox is actually the listings for Fox Life, not Fox NL
When I wrote that, there was on vpro both a fox and a fox_life, but indeed I don't see fox_life in the listing anymore. So you say they removed fox and moved fox_life to fox! Weird.
I implemented as mention earlier a separate datafile with all this channel info:sourcematching.json
. It gets downloaded every run and it contains: channel grouping, source merging, empty chanids, the rtl channel list, logo names, the combined channels, ttvdb aliasses, groupslotnames and useragents.
https://github.com/tvgrabbers/tvgrabnlpy/releases/tag/beta-2.2.6-p20151123-2
Whenever it gets updated you will get a message in your log to run configure
. It also will mention new stable releases.
It looks like you left some of the bad ids in the json file. i.e. Disney Channel BE (6-46) is still associated with 0-424
Your right about Disney (6-47) it slipped through.
You edited your message ;-) as 7-fox is associated with 0-404 as it should.
Yeah I was looking at the wrong entry on my config file for fox
It was a bit confusing! But the json file is updated. I however noticed earlier that due to caching I guess it can take some 5 or 10 minutes before you get the updated version.
Comedy Central BE (8-tmf) is still associated with the bad TMF entry from humo.be (6-97)
You might also want to mark 8-tv5 as blank, I think it's supposed to be the entry for TV5 Monde FBS (France Belgique Suisse) http://www.nieuwsblad.be/tv-gids/tv5/gisteren
I left them linked and changed the name. I guess as nieuwsblad changed the content to Comedy Central, there is a good chance humo will follow. and the listing on humo is empty, so no bother.
And about tv5, it's marked to be ignored, just as the extra empty entries for npo1, npo2, npo3 and bbc1 (without the underscore), but it seems to think itself to be virus ;-). I'll add it to the empty_channels list
You saw my announcement in actueel?
Another one, the MGM channel rebranded to AMC last year. Even though tvgids.nl still says "MGM" for 0-304, it's the listings for AMC 0-304 1-amc 5-563391527030 6-107
And just when you thought BBC couldn't get more complicated, BBC One has regional variations, going through the various sources when there's local news (for tonight it's 19:30 and 23:25): The following have a generic schedule ("Regional News and Weather") 0-7 6-10 7-bbc_1
The following has the BBC One HD schedule ("This is BBC One HD" which is a slate telling people to turn to the SD feed for local news since BBC One HD doesn't support regional varations): 5-24443942999
The following has the London specific schedule ("BBC London News") 1-bbc-1 1-bbc-hd (even though it says BBC HD, the schedule they list is for BBC One London)
Nieuwsblad (8-bbc-1) on the otherhand just lumps all the newscasts together into one giant "Nieuws" block
Are the BBC variations only in the naming of the news blocks? Because then I think we should ignore. Maybe only differentiating between bbc1 and bbc1 hd. tvgids.tv has both, like with more channels. The hd in the name makes tv_grab_nl_py standardly activate the mark_hd option. I know that within Great Britain you have a number of regional variants, but here BBC is grabbed out of the air in Oostende I think and cabled all through Belgium and the Netherlands, so it is all the same and probably the London schedule. At least that's how it started some 30+ years ago. I will fix the MGM/AMC.
I will have to rename the tvgids.nl channel, as there were more I will also add a Channel rename list to sourcematching.json, so you will have to wait a bit longer.
Be aware that now from 24:00 till around 4:00 especially tvgids.tv will be unreliable with testing. Most other sources switch over to the new day fast or don't need to.
NPO has bad listings for Omroep West, for example 11/25 between 17:00-18:00, the other sources have this that matches the schedules on Omroep West's website: http://www.omroepwest.nl/tvgids Alles op 1 A4 (17:00-17:26) TV West Nieuws (17:26-17:50) Verkeersjournaal (17:50-17:54) Westmix (17:54-18:00)
NPO (4-275) has this: Pure Kracht (17:00-17:25) Verkeersjournaal (17:25-17:30) TV West Nieuws (17:30-17:50) West Safari (17:50-18:00)
Right now I'm only seeing this with Omroep West, the other regional channels seem to be okay
I trust the vpro listings. I make the regional channels default to vpro as prime source. They however are missing a few. That would solve this. It is now defaulting to npo. tvgids.tv often is missing a lot on the regionals. I see a lot no info message coming from there.
A quick glance shows that tvgids.nl and horizon.tv have complete listings for this channel
For Omroep West these are the only sources listed that match what they have on their website, vpro isn't an option: 0-101 1-rtv-west 5-24443943071
Only the listings on NPO (4-275), don't match.
I ran tv_sort on the final xmltv output and it lists the following overlaps:

Forget what I said about vpro. They don't have the regionals. I'll make horizon the default primesource
Looking at the list in depth I spotted some issues resulting in channels not linking with other sources because of typos as well as some missing mappings:
tvgids.tv bbc-first should be linked with 0-464 ziggo-sport should be linked with 0-466
horizon.tv Comedy Central Family (672816167176) should be linked with 0-317 FOX Sports 6 (606274087106) should be linked with 1-fox-sports-6 Ziggo Sport (675503655063) should be linked with 0-466 RTL Lounge (672816167174) should be linked with 0-408
vpro.nl comedycentral should be comedy_central 24kitchen should be 24_kitchen
nieuwsblad.be bbc_1 should be bbc-1 bbc_2 should be bbc-2 prime-serie should be prime-series
The MTV sources should be split since MTV Vlaanderen has a different schedule than MTV NL: http://www.mtv.be/schedule/ http://www.mtv.nl/programma MTV NL is the following: 0-25 1-mtv 5-24443943006
MTV BE is the following: 6-69 8-mtv
The same for Nickelodeon http://www.nickelodeon.nl/tv-gids http://www.nickelodeon.be/tv-gids Nickelodeon NL is the following: 0-89 1-nickelodeon 5-542836775318
Nickelodeon BE is the following: 6-73 8-nickelodeon
