System does not start #25

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Clean install of Ubuntu 10.04 or mint 9 (wiping out the hard disk)
2. After reboot, system will not start
3.

What is the expected output? system should start

What do you see instead? an underscore (_) blinking on the top left corner

What version of the product are you using?vpcf115e 

On what operating system? ubuntu 10.04

Please provide any additional information below.

Booting form an USB works fine, but booting from the harddrive does not
