Hard drive delay & Keyboard delay

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Debian Lenny
2. Leave computer for awhile
3. Hard drive and keyboard lag. 1-2 seconds then normal speed. 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
File access takes 1-2 seconds. Stays fast for awhile. If left for a few 
minutes, goes back again. 
Keyboard also suffers from same lag. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Fixed by disabling harddrive spindown. hdparm.conf. Apparently default value is 
set to 8 seconds... which causes the discs to spin down too frequently.
