Upgrading to Lucid Lynx 10.10 with all the outstanding issues!

Thanks for a brill site. I would not be using my VPCF11Z1E as much as I do now 
if I could not overcome the issues resolved here. 

I am currently on 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx. I have resolved the following 
issues with the help of this site:

1) NVIDIA Issues - Setting up X11 with NVIDIA's driver for the Vaio's new 
display using an EDID file
2) Audio drivers - No sound in Ubuntu Alsa Drivers
3) Back Light fix

What I would like is a status of 'Issues' for 10.10. I would like to upgrade 
but I have stable box at present. What issues were resolved by 10.10. Will I 
still need ALL of the patches! Do they still work.

Is there a help page for this?

I am still disappointed to have to have to patch. Has the new version of Ubuntu 
fixed any issues. 

I thought Canonical did hardware testing! Do these issues ever get resolved! 

I know it is the fault of Sony for using proprietary hardware but it has been 
long time now.

Am I expecting too much?

When you update to 10.10, you will need to download the 256.53 nvidia-current 
and nvidia-gtx (assuming you want the latest working drivers for 330m)

Sound works by default for most laptops (I have VPCF126FM)

Will I still need to do the EDID file and x11.conf. If so can I use the same 
EDID file for the new install.
