3 years ago There were a couple of torrents, but it’s been about a year since they were created and shared. I just checked on them and they’re all dead.
I’ve been working on a Freedomain archive project for the last couple of months, and was planning on eventually sharing it as a torrent for the fellow data hoarders/archivists in the community once Stef reached the big 5,000 podcast point.
It’s going to include the following for each podcast:
- mp3 file
- Thumbnail from the video
- json of all data for the podcast as pulled from the fdrpodcasts API
- Youtube subtitles (closed captions) for the podcasts that had a youtube video
We’ve talked about torrents and webtorrents before on the discord for podcasts, and the thing we’ve come back to each time is that it’s kind of a niche thing that only a small amount of people will use.

Stef mentioned that there might be some existing torrents containing bundles of podcasts. If we're able to find them, it'd be nice to add them using webtorrent so users can download them straight from the browser.
