Looks like it works well. My attempts were all foiled by the aggressive reconstruction by flexdashboard in lines. There are other valueBox constructors in shinydashboard and bs4dash that demonstrate how we could write a reusable function that plays nicely with flexdashboard where the markup is generated by R.

Or we could write a flexdashboard custom component that doesn't kill all the markup and just use the text.
