At the moment updates are titled per meeting, with something such as "TWN Geneva News Update No.2" or "TWN Geneva News Update #5".
The way the numbering is formated depends on the author. Because it is part of the title, it is not possible to sort on it. But updates could be sorted on publication date/time anyway.
The title is used for the current meeting - and then again next time there is a meeting in the same place, when it starts again at number 1.
So adding these updates as individual series' would probably be confusing. One option would be to add the title of the update as a field to the taxonomy term since it is only used with that meeting. Then the author of a new update would only need to add the actual number to the text.
