The Emby and VLC media players for Android have a "lock screen" button. This allows for clicking on the screen, but it does not pause the video. It's quite handy, you can't accidentally pause the video. You can unlock the screen again by pressing the screen once so the hud comes up, and then press the unlock button. Of course you would still be able to swipe from the sides of the screens to do other tasks, but the video itself stays untouched.
Could such a button be added to YTPlayer? Preferably in the menu that comes up once you click the screen. I think it's an easy but valuable addition.
