Description

!0 points by itsfoss on why Brave search is good. https://itsfoss.com/brave-search-features

Brave Search has been added and removed in this repo before. The criticisms of Brave search are not enough to be not included in the list. I have replied to the criticisms at https://github.com/tycrek/degoogle/issues/415

Reason for adding

  1. Brave Search Goggles (https://github.com/brave/goggles-quickstart) provides ability for the user to manipulate the search results rather than the platform solely deciding in the algorithm.
  2. Brave search provides 93% of results in own index and rest is from fallback. DuckDuckGo is not transparent on how much they fallback.
  3. Brave search supports Tor. In contrast, Google blacklists Tor IP's. More info on how their web discovery project https://github.com/brave/web-discovery-project/blob/main/modules/web-discovery-project/sources/README.md

I'm hesitant to add this because of the issues surrounding Brave browser and the parent company. See #69 for more info. I'll leave this open for now for discussion.
