Only needed for playback. Main differences between the mcu_l476rg and mcu program are that the former has:
no I2C (not needed for playback)
no PWM timers; outdated
no GPIO for PA11 (outdated)
no huart6. Need to use huart2 for the PC link due to the absence of this peripheral
naturally, different settings for the clock network since the dev boards are different
I also snuck in an updated wiring diagram for the playback mode. Not complete since it doesn't show: (1) the power supply connections, (2) the connections on the RPi side, (3) the connections on the servos...but better than nothing!
