This A/B test, named "Plaid API Integration vs Manual Entry" and identified as User Story Number US4, aims to examine how offering users the option to connect their financial accounts via Plaid API, as opposed to manual data entry, impacts the onboarding completion rates and 30-day retention rates for an expense tracking app. The hypothesis posits that integrating Plaid API will reduce onboarding friction, thus increasing adoption and retention by automating financial data input, enhancing the initial user experience, and subsequently improving engagement. The experiment will split new users into two groups: one entering financial details manually (Control) and the other using Plaid API for automatic connection (Test), with tracking set up via Firebase Analytics to monitor key metrics like onboarding completion rate, time taken for onboarding, 30-day retention rate, and post-onboarding user engagement. The goal is to demonstrate that easing the onboarding process with Plaid API can significantly enhance user adoption and retention, offering insights into improving the overall user experience.
