Your common name must match the domain name used to access the server via https. If you do not have the IP as the common name or in a list of subject alternative names in your certificate, the connection will ALWAYS fail.
If you had a domain name pointing to your IP then your would have CN=somedomain.name but because you are explicitly connecting via an IP address you must have, CN=123.123.123.123 when you generate your certificate.
-OR- you have to go through trying to set up subject alternative names/wildcard names. Which honestly is overkill for your situation.
