I didn't vote on the COVS because I delayed jumping through a hoop to get authenticated and then the window had closed. Sorry.
I'm not too worried about which system we choose if we choose something better than going with the highest vote getter even if it is less than majority.
One of my stated objectives as chair was to implement our voting system, and I'd like to solicit feedback. Two things we've tried:
Up-or-down votes on GitHub issues. These are adequate and easy when there are two alternatives. The charter says discussion is open to the public, but is not explicit about the votes. If we believe a public vote unjustly biases the results, that's not the way.
CIVS for multiple choice issues. This required a third party tool. It only drew 3 respondents out of 9, and I'm not sure if it was the issue, the tool, or the availability of the committee. Condorcet voting appeals to me, but I'm a math nerd who married a political scientist. Your mileage may vary.
Other implementations:
Debian uses devotee, another Condorcet voting system. It looks a lot heavier than anything I care to administer or impose on the next chair.
Star Voting also appeals to my inner election science nerd, but is less well known.
Discuss.
