What steps will reproduce the problem?
This unit test describes the problem:

    @Test public void test() {
        Map<Integer, Integer> expected = new HashMap<Integer, Integer>() {{ put(0, 1); }};
        Map<Integer, Integer> actual = new Gson().fromJson("{0:1}", new TypeToken<Map<Integer, Integer>>() {}.getType());
        assertEquals(expected, actual);
    }

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.3 (version 2.1 works OK)
