Adding Scribus into documentation #31

Recently I found Scribus announced 1.5.3 release which bring OpenType support to users, I think you can add informations into the documentation if users want to using your fonts to make publications with it. Also, you can mention it on SCI website.

So, I decided to try Scribus. (I couldn't get version 1.5.3 to install, so I tried version 1.5.1 on Linux Mint).

There is no way to specify "Church Slavonic" as a language and install a hyphenation dictionary. However, I "hacked" it by renaming the Church Slavonic hyphenation dictionary to hyphen.dic and just leaving the language as English. Not a very elegant solution, but it does get hyphenation to work. However, there is no way to specify "" as the hyphenation character (same problem as LibreOffice).

There is still no support in Scribus for OpenType or Graphite features -- the positioning of accents is wrong and the precomposed glyphs don't work.

On the whole, the program seems to be improving, but it's not ready to be recommended for Church Slavonic typography.

OK I got Scribus 1.5.3, which is the minimium version thst support OpenType features, the positioning of accents is good and the precomposed glyphs works as expected. The optional font features available via Windows -> Text Properties, however, the support is very limited: while I set the font face as Ponomar Unicode, only ligature and style set 2 available on screen.

I also don't know how to specify "Church Slavonic" as a language. So I agree with you that it's not ready to be recommended for Church Slavonic typography.
