Ugh, this is the only thing this beautiful editor is missing. Can we can get a response from the development team as to whether this is even on the roadmap or not?
Thanks! ❤️
I'm under the gun until August but if this ticket is still open in September I'll put in a PR
@liz-mars Is Typora open source? I thought only the issues were being tracked on Github?
Oh dang! My mistake @joshuapinter
@liz-mars No worries. I wanted to do the same thing but couldn't find the repo. :)

does it support vim now?

@Yihen Pretty sure if they added it, they would let us know in this thread.

this conversation has been unlocked - does that mean vim key bindings are coming to typora??
please add vim keybindings or opensource the relative code, let me do this job, again add vim keybingdings please please please
it pains me to say this, because the editing experience under Typora is far superior, but the lack of vim bindings (or, say, a plugin API that would allow me to integrate with neovim, as the good lord intended) has me on Obsidian.md, which I also love.
That said, there's nothing like Typora for long stretches of serious markdown work, so this has been something of a regression in my workflow -- it's just I can't get my brain to stop vim-ing, and I'm essentially stuck at this point with whatever tools can give me a vim experience.
Can't be half-arsed, either. Looking at you, Sublime Text 3 'Vintage' package, with your unwelcome insinuation of old-fashioned-ness. 🤬
Just wanted to stack more comments here - I love Typora. I would even pay for it. Only thing is missing - vim mode. For now, I have to stick to another editor.
Hi,
Please stop crying, they absolutely don’t care about our complains.
Let’s share your alternative to Typora, I’m using vscode. Do you know something better?
https://www.zettlr.com/features Perhaps check this one? It's not as light as Typora, but has some features missing in Typora, like citation. Now they blocked Vim bindings as well, but I think they will reopen it soon.
I use Obisidian.md
vim keybindings please...
Great idea! It would be fantastic to have a vim mode.

+1, from a neovim newbie
+1 for vim support
Vim keybindings would be awesome.
emacs markdown mode with evil... until Typora adds vim bindings.

This would be fantastic. If there was a way to plugin Neovim 0.5 as the backend into Typora that would probably be the most desired and elegant. Let Neovim do the vi work and Typoro can manage the UI. I use VScode right now with a Neovim plugin that uses Neovim 0.5 as the backend and it works quite well. With that said, VScode is pretty heavy and having something lightweight like Typora would be magical.
+1 vim helps me a lot. I need vim shortcut !

This project is amazing and is almost everything I want out of a Markdown editor. The one thing missing is the text editor part: vim.
I was digging around in the Application Package and noticed that you're using CodeMirror. It seems simple to enable their vim bindings.
Could you make this an option?
A vim mode is good for me.

+1 for vim keybindings!!

Same here! Provide a Vim mode, please!
+1 for vim key bindings, it would just be the perfect markdown editor with it.
