From this reference

Change fonts to be closer to Times Roman and Courier
Update style of figures and table captions
Change numbering of enum, headings, and captions
Increase title font size (18pt to 24pt)
Decrease font size for authors, abstract and index-terms

I just noticed that TeX Gyre fonts family is not present in typst-cli, is it necessary to also include the fonts?

No, locally it's up to the user to install the fonts. At least that's the way it is for now. We can add a note to the README that the fonts are required.
