Hi Ive got a P52 with the XEON copu and 3840 screen, i need some guidance on what files i would need, as im totally new to this

outbackdingo commented 1 month ago

i got partially through the install but for some reason its boot looping, not sure even the install completed

the EFI is configured for my machine, if you have a different processor it's likely to not work. It took me days and around 20 reinstalls to achieve this, welcome to the hackintosh world..! I suggest you to follow this guide: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/prerequisites.html#prerequisites There's also a lot of youtube videos that helped me a lot. It's very time consuming... But i guess you can use mine as a base.

Hey, I did get ventura installed with your files on my P52... mouse was very choppy during initial setup, but now seems usable, Can I ask have you gotten up to Sequoia ?

Good to hear that ! Nah usually Ventura is recommended, latest versions are not stable with opencore

i do have one question, about mapping usb ports? seems my usb mouse is lagging when i click left mouse button, kind of freezes for 20-30 seconds then returns, otherwise it appears to work well

outbackdingo commented 1 month ago

LOL nevermind, change the usb mouse to different port, all is working smoothly and im on Sequoia 15.0.1

HINT: modify your config.plist Open your config.plist using any XML editor from the EFI/OC directory. Set the SecureBootModel to Disabled instead of Default under the Misc>Security section of your config.plist.

You managed to get it working on Sequoia well done ! Never had any issue with usb, except thunderbolt

seems when i click an x or _ on a window to close or minimize a window the system seems to freeze for a short period, mouse unresponsive, then returns, if i use the menu to close/quit of hide/unhide it all works fine. only thing i noticed, ive not tested usb-c/thunderbolt or hdmi

outbackdingo commented 1 month ago

hdmi does not seem to work, the rear usb c ports will provide power, ive not tried a peripheral in them, nor have i tried the display port, i basically set this up for quest 3 and immersed for multiple screens as immersed only supports MAC/Windows for multi-screen

think i need to sort out the plist for a different in cpu and video card, the lag closing windows makes it almost unuseable i ran SSDTTime on the laptop with linux install and imported your config.plist, patched it and reinstalled but lag is still there. Im curious if its the 4K screen because i noticed it says Display Unknown, but does get right resolutions

my laptop has a XEON E series and the video is UHD P630, seems its slightly different then the intel UHD 630 found in the Core iX versions
