Thanks for input @pixelhed.
I personally don't like grades (like starts) because it is always too subjective. On one hand for different persons putting the same number of stars can mean different thing. On the other for each who will see this rating this may also mean something different. For someone 4/5 starts may seem reliable for the other buggy.
Thus I prefer more exact criteria. It will be interesting to hear other points of view.
@tim-bezhashvyly Well of course the criteria for deciding upon how the stars are assigned need to be clearly defined. Then the scoring is not subjective. Obviously this would need more discussion as to which criteria designates which star level in a particular category. This would then allow direct comparison of extensions which perform similar functions. :)
Scoring is something like a general recommendation of a reviewer. Currently scoring rates are Excellent
, Very good
, Good
, Average
, Disappointing
and Poor
. Which to me seems quite straightforward. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I think that it would be good to somehow visually display how suitable the extension was under certain categories. This would allow an easy comparison between extensions which perform a similar function. These categories would need to be agreed upon, but could include things such as: Overall Features: ★★★☆☆ Code Quality: ★★★★☆ License Issues: ★☆☆☆☆ Class Rewrites: ★☆☆☆☆ Use of Events: ★★★★☆
^^ this list is only a suggestion, but alongside the written review, if the review was somehow structured, then users can make an easy comparison.
