Description

Advertisements on just about any Google search have started to appear, undetected and unmarked AS ads, at the start of every Google search I've performed in the last few days. There is a very brief window in which the ads do not appear immediately after entering a search, but then all the ads pop up, unblocked.

Similarly to how UBO worked on YouTube in recent months only in incognito mode, _this problem goes away in incognito mode._ Is it possible that Google is SSAPing their search engine now? I do not know how to solve this.

Other extensions used

uBlacklist (while it is another form of content blocker, i have proven to myself it is not the cause) Shinigami Eyes (no effect when disabled) Foxified (for youtube enhancement extension Magic Actions For Youtube) (no effect when either one is disabled) Video Speed Controller (no effect when disabled) XKit Rewritten (ditto) Return YouTube Dislike (ditto) Google Docs Offline (ditto) Dark Mode Google Docs (ditto) Grammarly (ditto)

Test again in a new browser profile with only uBO and its default settings.

just tested as-said, everything works fine.

Did you log in to google in that new profile? Does the issue occur after you log in?

I didn't log into google in that profile -- it's completely blank. won't let me sign into my current email on the profile, considering I already have one under that, but when i sign into google at all on the test profile, it's clean just the same

In your old profile, go to chrome://extensions, turn off all other extensions (except uBO), restart the browser and test again.

h m .

well, this proves i didn't exactly do as due diligence as i'd assumed. you're right-- it's one of the others. time to find out which.

oh, goddammit, it's Foxified. which is the only way Magic Actions works, sadly. guess i don't necessarily need Magic Actions, either -- just some way to DL videos and their mp3s without resorting to potentially sketchy external sites. hopefully there are some which won't bypass UBO.

  • [X] I have verified that other extensions are not causing the issue.
