Prerequisites

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

Description

hi, could you please implement a "Reset" button on both "My filters" and "My rules" so we can clear them more easily?

something like this?

A specific URL where the issue occurs.

most of the time, I only want to reset filters or rules separetely so I can replace them with new ones.

also... on Android it gets extremely buggy when you try to clear them manually by selecting them, so this button would simplify things a lot.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. if you try to reset filters/rules on Android, it gets extremely buggy and it just doesn't work.

Expected behavior

it should be easy to reset them.

Actual behavior

it should be easy to reset them.

... it's not.

uBO version

1.59.0

Browser name and version

Firefox 129.0.2

Operating System and version

Windows 10 / Android

Yes, a known problem:

Isn't the main Reset button sufficient or to import a backup with "all your settings + empty "My filters" + default "My rules": https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dashboard:-Settings#backuprestore-section .

can you please implement a "Reset" button on both "My filters" and "My rules" so we can reset things more easily?

As for "My filters" , a duplicate of:

a) to bring a virtual keyboard by clicking anywhere in "My filters" text area, b) and then to tap 2 times on filter or on border (it will select all filters) c) then to press Backspace (it will delete all selected filters) d) then to press Save

As for "My rules", a duplicate of (but due to the current problems on android, it might be reconsidered):

Isn't the main Reset button sufficient?

most of the time I only want to reset filters or rules separately so I can replace them with new ones.

using the main reset button is slow until it finishes loading and updating all the network filters (specially if you have enabled a large number of filter lists).

it would be far more efficient if each section had its own reset button.

(considering how bugged Android is, this is a win-win situation)

Usually there is no need to reset filters/rules all the time/ so often, you need to provide a real explanation why and how often do you reset your filters and rules (several times per day or once every few days?).

Maybe you are an unexperienced user who creates plenty of bad filters like website.com##random_df223e3, and then after a while, you want to replace them with another bunch of useless random filters/rules, it this is the case, you need to learn how to create better filters/rules, which will stand longer.

But on the other side, maybe it's too hard for unexperienced users to learn how to create good filters, so I don't know.

is everything okay at home, buddy?

if you don't want to expand the functionality of uBlock Origin and want to leave things the way they are now, then good for you.

you need to provide a real explanation why

you literally just showed me issues of different people that were unable to reset their filters/rules on Android, but for some reason you still seem to be against the idea of having a button that would easily fix this issue.

you're free to do whatever you want. 🤷

is everything (...)

Get away from me, clown, maybe I could ask you the same, because you've confused me with the uBO creator, I'm a volunteer...it's uBO creator who refused to implement "reset" funtionality, not me, and that's why I asked you for a reason, because most of time the uBO creator expects some real examples/cases of why to implement a functionality request, other than "I want it to be implemented" or "proof of concept", but if you are not interested, then it's your choice (anyway after your reply, I can assume you have the same reason for your feature request, like the other guy from the other thread, which actually is very similiar reason to the one I mentioned about).

Read again with understanding, what I already said above, or stop trolling: I'm not against implementing anything, and I only asked you a question the uBO creator often asks: "why the feature is needed (real usage cases)".
