uBO icon not showing in firefox top right side, leaving no possibilty to customize its features #3410

Closed cramredan1 closed 2 hours ago

Prerequisites

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

Description

After a brand new install of uBO, I cannot find anywhere the icon that should sit along firefox top right side, making it impossible to customise the plugin restrictions. In order to identify a culprit, I uninstalled 2 other activated extensions, leaving only uBO installed and activated. Does'nt change anything. I also checked icons from other extension display correctly and they do, upfront when activating the plugin. There is definitely something going wrong there.

A specific URL where the issue occurs.

Not url related bug

Steps to Reproduce

1) install uBO 2) check for the presence of an icon on the top right side of firefow browser (version 131.0.2 - 64 bits) 3) uninstalled all other residing extensions 4) Rechecked / No change

Expected behavior

A configuration/customizing icon should appear on the right handside of firefox browser to let one configure the plugin

Actual behavior

No icon showing, whatever manipulation I do.

uBO version

1.60.0

Browser name and version

Firefox (version 131.0.2 - 64 bits)

Operating System and version

Windows 10 22H2

1.

I can't reproduce your issue in a clean Firefox profile.

cramredan1: 3. uninstalled all other residing extensions

it fulfils only this:

  • [x] uBO is the only extension.

but not this:

  • [x] using a new, unmodified browser profile.

did you really try on a new fresh browser profile or not, see a similiar old issue:

2. Other reason might be that you unpinned the extension icon from browser toolbar, in such a case try to open extensions popup and pin it again, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/extensions-button.

3. Yet another reason might be that if you runs in Private mode (Incognito), an extension requires a permission "Allow this extension to run in Private Windows" to be accepted, this permission can be accepted during an extension installation, or changed later in browser addons settings, see: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/extensions-private-browsing

Many thanks for having tried and your quick suggestions. I just fully uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it at default settings and "voilà"... the customization icon shows back. Thanks a lot. Marc/Paris
