When you click on a new layer "Hotspots" for example, and then go to the Map to shift click for a query, the map is not the focus of the interaction immediately and so the text is highlighted on the left side from the place you clicked on the layer name until the bottom of the layer menu.
STR:
Click on a layer on the left hand side of the map
Shift click anywhere on the map to have it do a fire API query
