Both DODDOE1 (Major Military) and FWS1 (AK Maritime Wildlife Refuge) are extremely large and discontinuous geometries. They span 1000 miles and are virtually useless for summarizing data, which is the entire purpose of these polygons in the first place. They are not good "cookie cutters" and may be dropped from the data. Because of their extent they also confound a "nearby places" look-up.

Checked out the updated shape files in QGIS; looks good to me.
