Adding Guests in Slack

How to add a Single Channel Guest to the #slackers channel:

• Click the workspace name, i.e. UAB Research Computing upper left, Settings & Administration and Manage Members
• This will take you to https://uab-rc.slack.com/admin
• Click Invite People
  • Enter their email address
  • Invite as: Guest
  • Channel: #slackers
  • Enter a message and click Invite

Important: Inviting a user via the channel admin -> members panel will add them as either part of our license or Slack Connect. Not as a guest

Let's do a test to see if you can "Invite Single-Channel Guest" to Slack. I believe you should be able to do it and I (and other admins) will get prompted to approve:

1. Click the UAB Research Computing workspace in the upper left (above the channel side bar)
2. Click Invite people to UAB Research Com...

• To: Enter the email address(es)
• Invite as: Guest - limited to select channels, files and directory
• Add to channels (required): #slackers
• Allow them to be added to more channels: Unchecked
• Set an expiration date: Set as necessary
• Custom message: Optionally add a custom invite message

1. Click Send
2. A Slack administrator will be notified via Slack to approve or decline the invitation
