"Using this option, teachers are able to provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of a variety of course standards by completing a modified assignment which addresses standards from multiple missed assignments."

Worried this could potentially be interpreted to justify giving students a 'packet' at the end of the year. Do we need to/should we add something that emphasizes that modified assignments must be rigorous performance tasks?

Good idea to add that language, and I think if we don't want anyone to interpret the policy as allowing packets to be handed out then we should state it explicitly: "It is not normally acceptable for students to be provided with a packet of course content in order to convert from a failing to a passing grade. If the teacher believes that an individual student's circumstances merit an approach of this kind, they must seek guidance from administration prior to suppling the student with this option." - something like this?
