Remove autofill above the keyboard #1248

Open dukethorion opened 3 months ago

dukethorion commented 3 months ago

I don't know if this is possible anymore, but is there a way to disable the chrome autofill strip that opens on certain text fields above the keyboard? It shows a bar with icons for passwords, payments, and addresses.

We can already turn off the browser saving those items, but the bar still shows up regardless.

There's got to be a current way to remove this functionality for users who don't use it.

I know there used to be flags when autofill was experimental, but it seems those flags are gone from the user end.

can you do me a screen shot to understand what you are talking about? thank you.

I think that bar is displayed by Google Play Services

theFireProject commented 3 months ago

I think author is referring to this bar. I don't think it's displayed by Google Play Services because it shows all passwords for that page that are stored in the browser and I don't think it's related to Android's native autofill.

In my opinion, it is the app that manages the keyboard.

issues are closed because I also consider them as such. an analysis of the bug is missing here, which can only be done by the author, without knowing whether the problem is with the browser, I do not know how to proceed, and if the author does not care to solve....

Lenni-builder commented 2 months ago

I just looked at the stale bot's GitHub workflow and and it just close issues with "wontfix" or "awaiting info" tags, that's actually okay. But it would be good if the stale bot's comment clarified this a bit.

why don't you propose what should appear? in another issue, please.

It shows up on any website that expects a login and password.

Did you try a different keyboard app?

uazo commented 1 month ago

would you do me a favour and check whether in incognito navigation you have those buttons? I have been wanting to add an always-on incognito mode for the keyboard for a while now.

I have been wanting to add an always-on incognito mode for the keyboard for a while now.

I hope with an option to revert this, because I very, very much dislike when apps do this and make the KB go in incognito mode, which makes it not remember things, not suggest things based on my previous input and disables things. I don't have enough words to express how much I hate this.

To dukethorion (OP) & uazo: Let's change the subject title to mention what is this about, because it will be harder to find it in future using search with that generic FR title, which doesn't explain anything, just mentions what it is, which should be a label/tag, not a title. Thank You.
