Do people work during a hackathon on a common problem while they are on different locations? #2

Why?

I want to find out if people have done it as a bonus point for working in a distributed environment

Deliverables

[ ] Do people work on Google Hangouts on various themes under a specific schedule? I've seen distributed code reviews for OS projects.

I was thinking of people working on the same problem across the world. FirefoxAppDays was to create different apps in different locations. The topic of the hackathon was common. I have updated the title of the issue to reflect this.

Can't see any description of it, themes, etc ... did you find anything about how it went and the themes?

From what I've seen these distributed hackathons are mostly something like:

you have a task (build the best app that uses our API)
you have a timeframe that should cover time-zone differences
at the end of the period the apps are judged and a winner is selected

I think the simultaneous distributed hackathons are only possible if you do it in the same timezone.
