There is no copyright or licence terms easily available on the website.

Rick,

Thank you for catching this; everything else I've released has been under Apache 2.0 -- I noticed Protobuf is under the New BSD, Avro and Thrift are both under Apache 2 and I can't find terms for MessagePack.

Any issues with the adoption Apache 2 that you are aware of?

+1 for Apache 2.0

Another suggestion - just re-use the JSON license, I have no issues with this: http://www.json.org/license.html

The JSON licence is similar to the BSD/MIT licence except for an unusual remark about not being evil. This is presumably superfluous because anyone being evil will evily flout the licence anyway! I think the more boring BSD and MIT and Apache2 licences are better candidates therefore.
