Permission denied at sign-in #77

I'm getting a pam_authenticate: PERM_DENIED at sign-in before I even input anything. It also doesn't allow me to circumvent this. This happened starting the Sept 15 update. Should I wait for the next update or what's going on?

i hit this weekds ago, hit CTRL-F2, login as user and cp /etc/pam.d/greetd /etc/pamd.d/cosmic and cp /etc/pam.d/greetd-greeter /etc/pam.d/cosmic-greeter go back to greetd and login
