Seems to have tons of options! Is there a way of picking some that it works "out of the box" for almost-all users, and also that it fits itself into the virtualhost/site-based structure of apps that we have in UBOS?
I wish that I could be more helpful on choosing a good FTP server/admin package for Linux, but I've been running FileZilla FTP server on a Windows Server box (because my mail server is MailEnable, I'm forced to run a Windows Server box anyway). It's not a critical need thing for me, but I think that it would be a valuable addition to the UBOS
I mentioned ProFTPD because it's popular and there is a Webmin module for it. Webmin looks like a very good fit with UBOS. UBOS would do the heavy lifting for package installations and Webmin would provide the web GUI for administration of the installed packages. Take a look at what it can do beyond ProFTPD: http://doxfer.webmin.com/Webmin/Webmin_Modules
I'd like to see some kind of FTP server which can be administered via a web interface.
One option that seems popular is ProFTPD with a web-based admin front end like Webmin

Webmin brings many powerful tools for web-based administration of many packages and might have other uses under UBOS.
Note: While I know that it's popular to rail against FTP and preach about technically superior, more secure alternatives, there are often valid reasons for having an FTP service, including user familiarity, integration with website publishing tools, and business client preferences.
