Description of the feature

Progressive Web Apps

PWA is like a web apps, but also can send a notifications and use the location and so. This will extend the supported app list.

baruchiro commented 5 years ago

I think that notification from browser is an essential step for this.

I think PWA support is extremely important for Ubuntu Touch in the long term as PWA solves one of the biggest drawbacks of choosing Ubuntu Touch - app availability.

PWA-s are supported on Linux, macOS, Windows, iOS, Android. Someone's pros & cons of PWA-s. I believe many companies and developers will be turning to PWA-s for apps with a great cost-value ratio.

Many websites offer PWA manifest, but it's more about the spirit of desktop-like web apps with some new APIs for native-like features. The key to improving web apps on UT is bringing newer Qt for the latest Chromium, making it possible for WebViews and browsers to communicate with the system, and parsing manifest.json in Morph, like Webber.

Hello, Is this task abandoned? Is there still a chance it will be included? It would help users a lot, for example the bank I use has a pwa application, which works better than the website. Maybe you guys reconsider developing this feature! Thank you!

@tudorels well currently we do not have capactiy for working on this in the core team, but any contribution is welcome.
