Cellular connection type (2G only, 2G/3G) setting is lost when switching between SIM cards #1675

Open TronFortyTwo opened 3 years ago

TronFortyTwo commented 3 years ago

Steps to reproduce

1) Have two SIM on the phone 2) Go to mobile network settings, ensure SIM A is the SIM used for data 3) Select 2G/3G as network type instead of 2G only (vegetahd doesn't support 4G so I can't test that) 4) Select SIM B as the SIM to use for data

Expected behavior

SIM A section still has 2G/3G as preferred network type

Actual behavior

SIM A switches back to 2G only. This causes that when I switch between SIM cards for data, I always have to set back each time the network type setting.

Most dual-SIM devices cannot have both SIM radios at the highest data rate that they support at the same time. For example, when setting one SIM on the Fairphone 2 to 2G/3G/4G, the other SIM always switches back to 2G. Is that the same behavior you are seeing here?

TronFortyTwo commented 3 years ago

I think not, because in the case you described at least one of the two SIMs stays on 2G/3G/4G. In the case I observed however, even switching back to the first sim doesn't make the connection go back to 2G/3G. The issue in fact is that indipendently of previous settings, changing SIM always make the sim selected 2G only, and this happens for both SIMs.

I see. This issue does not occur on the FairPhone 2, so I will mark it as only affecting the E4.5.

Actually I tested on vegetahd (E5 hd), don't know if it makes any difference

Thank you. I misread.
