It could be a storage indicator, then it could give you data about your local storage to, that could be cool, but idk if you want all your storage, both external and internal as an indicator?
I like the part of adding the sd-card menu to the settings, but not so much the indicator part. My use case is that I insert the sd-card and let there forever, and I don't want to have another indicator just to see that the sd-card is mounted. Too many indicators is a bit messy for a fast navigation.
Well, I agree that too much indicators is to messy. But to see right now, optionally the allocated space like a network bar in 0, 25, 50, 75, 100% is cool. Important is optionally so that it can be switched on or off. For me it happens suddenly, that I am running out of SD-Card space, when recording videos. So it would be nice to see the available space in the status bar.
Thanks for the feedback! Now my idea is to do an optional display like with e.g. the rotation indicator which decides also for itself if it is being displayed in the collapsed bar. But you can always find it in the pulled-down bar. Or should it be completly optional?
+1 for decides by itself -1 for completely optional, since that would mean some userconfiguration is needed and my preference is "just works" unless there is a really good reason why user intervention is needed
In my opinion, the pulled-down menu is the real problem... as it has too many indicators. I like the keep it simple idea. Maybe a configuration that allows the selection of the indicators would be a great idea.
@LarreaMikel This has been discussed with Marius a couple of days ago and that seems to be something he want's to implement in system settings.
I would suggest to not create new indicators. More icons in the top panel is not a good idea, and the indicators are already way too complex, along with the UI for them. It would be best if we could move away from the indicators system design as a whole, I think.
While looking on the indicators again I remembered that we want to remove the ugly SD card "App" thingie from the system Apps and integrate it into system settings.
While doing this we could also design an indicator that will:
