Dolphin is unable to access Volla Phone X when unlocking after plugging in #2007

Silicomancer commented 2 years ago

Steps to reproduce

Plug in a locked Volla Phone X OTA-22 to a Kubuntu 21.10 PC. Try to access the phone via MTP using Dolphin (will not work as expected). Unlock the phone. Try to access the phone via MTP using Dolphin.

Expected behavior

I would expect that I can access the phone after unlocking it.

Actual behavior

Access does not work until Dolphin is restarted.

Logfiles and additional information

When unlocking before plugging in, access works fine. Could be a Kubuntu or Dolphin bug. I don't know so I report here first.

This is most definitely a bug on KDE's side, I cannot reproduce this using nemo as my file manager (which uses gvfs-mtp as the MTP backend).

Here are some existing MTP related bug reports, and especially bug 411489 (USB (MTP) connection to Android fails if Dolphin was running before plugging in) caught my eye as it sounds like a very similar problem.

Regarding 411489 I just double checked: Device must definitely be unlocked. Plugging in before starting Dolphin is not sufficient on my system.

Well since the report was originally for Android, in case of Ubuntu Touch the Allow MTP access on the device step is same as unlocking the device
