WiFi not working if IP is set by the router #2110

Open the-ssd opened 1 year ago

the-ssd commented 1 year ago

Steps to reproduce

  1. connect to WiFi router
  2. set local IP to 192.168.2.203 for the phone
  3. reconnect

Expected behavior

connection to WiFi so you can for example ssh into the phone

Actual behavior

phone says that it is connected but browser says that it can't load a page router says that it is connected but speed of the device is 0mb/s

Steps I ACTUALLY took

  1. install UT and have fun
  2. make SSH work and set local IP to 192.168.2.203
  3. update to 20.04
  4. understand that it might be unstable
  5. downgrade to 16
  6. WiFi broken
  7. reinstall UT
  8. WiFi broken (and blame 20.04 for nuking drivers (it wasn't the problem))
  9. install LinageOS
  10. WiFi works
  11. Install UT again
  12. WiFi doesn't work
  13. install LinageOS again and use it for a day
  14. be sad because not UT
  15. install UT
  16. check what router says
  17. guessing that setting IP to automatic might work
  18. WiFi works
  19. YAY
