The ion-ion potential in K.Michaelian paper is: image and the one found in the Compphys minmax is: image

and in the paper, the potential formula is referenced to: image For this homework, which formula should we follow?

sharmistharanit commented 1 year ago

Both formulas are the same. In comphysminmax, i,j represent Na and cl ions.

The above equation represents the positive and negative ions interaction.

On the other hand, this equation represents the interaction between either positive-positive ions or negative-negative ions. I believe so.

This equation is the combination of all interactions. (positive and negative ions interaction + positive-positive ions interaction and negative-negative ions interaction).

Hope this helps.
