Distro name in tooltip has extra characters, including "\n" and apostrophes #51

Hi folks... I'm reporting a bug I'm seeing while running Ubuntu MATE 19.10 (Eoan Ermine).

Steps to reproduce:

1) Have MATE Menu in your panel

Easiest way to get it is to select the "Redmond" panel layout in MATE Tweak Tool 2) Hover over the MATE Menu ("Menu" button) with your mouse cursor 3) Distro name will display as a tooltip

Expected:

When hovering over the MATE Menu with my mouse cursor, the following text should display: Ubuntu Eoan Ermine (development branch)

Actual:

This text displays instead: b'\tUbuntu Eoan Ermine (development branch)\n'

Hi folks,

Thank you for the fix. While I see this has been fixed in the master branch here on GitHub, I still see the problem in Eoan Ermine. Please consider making a release before October, so users of Eoan+ can have this fix.
