Mention the DataCite metadata standard (used by Yoda, Zenodo, many others)
Mention DataCite under "Dataset registration" since this is the mechanism through which metadata is published to the internet (from at least Zenodo, DataverseNL, Yoda and OSF)
"Dataset registration" as described is commonly (DataCite, Yoda, DataverseNL, Zenodo) called "Publishing" or use "Publishing metadata" to avoid confusion with Open Data. Maybe leave out altogether since this has it's own topic?
In general should this not be rewritten from the perspective of a researcher who needs to publish a dataset and needs some guidance on what to fill in the form she is presented with? It's nice to know there are more standards, but it's mostly irrelevant to researchers they just need to be able to follow guidelines the VU and the repository mandate.
Suggestion: host the minimal metadata guide on the handbook. I think it's mentioned in the VU policy so it would be good to have it easily accessible somewhere.
Thanks @peer35 🙏 We literally just pushed an update to the metadata page, so could you verify whether these points are for the latest version? https://rdm.vu.nl/topics/metadata.html
