Cannot edit Cylinder ID after Submitting (312-Gyratory Compaction Log) #41

Cylinder ID not allowed to change after initial input

After submitting a gyratory compaction, I'm not allowed to change the cylinder ID. I have a typo where originally I typed HWTT, but I changed it to AMPT; the actual sample now reads as HWTT but is really an AMPT.

before submitting

This is what it looks like before submitting - the cylinder ID is editable here.

That is because you use the "Next Step" function to generate a cutting sheet already. As a result, the system knows that the name has been used by its children. Changing it in the parent sheet will cause inconsistency between the compaction sheet and the cutting sheet.

You have two options:

  1. Ask me or David Smith to help
  2. Redo both the cutting sheet and the compaction sheet: delete the children (i.e., the cutting sheet), duplicate the parent (the compaction sheet), delete the original parent, then rework them.

I know this is quite inconvenient, I will think of a better way to do this.

Best,

Rongzong

Ok duplicating and deleting the previous entries works.

Is it possible to prevent the page from auto-populating cells with triple question marks when clicking the duplication button?

There's already a warning if duplicate data gets submitted - going through each cell to delete each instance of ??? takes time.

Sorry, it has to be there for now. We will remove this ??? after we have more robust check on duplicates.

My suggestion is to use "ctrl+backspace" to clear the whole row. Then fill in the first one, then go to the cell in second column, user "enter" to copy from the first column, and do this for every column.
