From Jeremy:
Search on a NAM number, get back active/inactive, VLAN, Building, Room, Switch, Port, and (in my magical dream world) the MAC addresses currently connected to the NAM (and, in my magical dream world's magical dream world, the MAC addresses attached to the NAM along with links to BigFix searches for those NAMs).
Search on a VLAN name (or substring), get back the list of VLANs matching that string, the VLAN contacts for each VLAN, and the IP data (range, subnet, gateway, broadcast) for each VLAN.
Search on an IP address, get back the NAM, associated VLAN, VLAN contacts, IP data for VLAN (range, subnet, gateway, broadcast), building/room and (dream world) the MAC address associated with the IP.
Search on a building and/or room, get back a list of all NAMs in that building/room along with their active status and associated VLANs.
(Back in the land of make believe) search on a MAC address, get back the IP, associated VLAN, VLAN contacts, IP data for VLAN (range, subnet, gateway, broadcast), building/room.
Search on a VLAN contact's name/email, get back all the VLANs they own.
If you want to add icing:
Any NAM or MAC or VLAN or IP returned should be clickable to take you to an associated BigFix search.
Any MAC address returned should be clickable to do an OUI lookup for the NIC manufacturer (e.g., https://www.wireshark.org/tools/oui-lookup.html).
Any IP address returned should be clickable to do a host
lookup.
From Chris Brick:
I’d add that it would be useful to search on a NAM number and get back ALL vlans that are tagged on that NAM/Switch port.
