As the paper mentioned, “high-ability people are better at interpreting any informational signals they get than low-ability people”, the ability to interpret informational signals could be one of the potential confounding variables in the experiment. In the step of balance checks, apart from “literate”, would it be better to add more checking variables that could further measure such ability?
