Multivariate decoding is a broad description of analytic approaches that look at the pattern of activity across multiple detectors (voxels in fMRI, electrodes in EEG, cells in animal studies) to learn which specific patterns across the detectors correspond to specific states. For instance, the pattern of activity in the visual cortex differs depending on what color a person is thinking about.
Thanks for presenting! In the presentation summary you mentioned "multivariate decoding", so what is 'multivariate decoding'? What is the difference between "multivariate decoding" and "inverted encoding analysis"?
