The paper finds some really interesting evidence for the relationship between alpha-band activity and covert spatial attention. What is your take on using alpha-band activity for evaluation of human candidates for tasks requiring good covert spatial attention? For example, in testing if a person could become a good driver, or in evaluating the abilities of professional action gamers?

This might work. I think it's an empirical question. it would depend, I think, on the development of a great task that will highlight differences in the ability of interest. An important question, however, is whether this method would be better than measuring behavioral performance in the task of interest. I suspect it would be easier to do the latter, and possibly more effective. That said, there are probably specific kinds of questions where this method is more effective, such as evaluating movements of attention in the absence of behavioral responses.
